How long do aluminium windows last?

It depends on how well they are looked after, the area they are installed in and the amount of wear and tear they endure. Even when taking all of these variables into consideration, aluminium windows are still one of the most durable designs out there and can even last decades with minimal upkeep. If they’re looked after properly, aluminium windows can last up to 40 years before they need replacing. Ensure you wipe down the frames frequently and wash away any debris or excess dust, as this will help with prolonging the lifespan of your aluminium windows.

Are aluminium windows better than uPVC?

Both have their benefits! uPVC has been a popular choice amongst homeowners due to their affordable price tag. They have also developed alongside modern technology and are highly efficient due to their insulative qualities, as well as being incredibly secure. Aluminium windows, on the other hand, tend to be stronger than uPCV. This means that the aluminium window frames can have a slimmer appearance and a larger glass surface area, maximising on light and views.

If you’re unsure what option is best for you or have any further questions, get in contact with one of our friendly advisors today.

Where are aluminium windows used?

In the past, aluminium windows have been more commonly used in commercial properties or schools and colleges because of their durability. They have, however, become a favourite amongst UK homeowners in both modern and period properties alike. Their classic design and slimline look adds a contemporary feel complementing any property, without compromising on performance.

Aluminium windows can last without a replacement for years, though if you’re looking for a solution that won’t break the bank, our uPVC windows are a great alternative that offer many of the same benefits at a more affordable price.

Are aluminium windows energy efficient?

One of the reasons why aluminum has been less popular than uPVC in the past was due to its low thermal efficiency. It is a highly conductive material, however advances in technology means they are now made using a thermal break. This means that between the outer and inner metal, we install a non-conductive material throughout the frame, keeping the cold air away from your cosy home! You can also opt for either double or triple glazing, which will prevent heat escaping during the winter months.

What are the benefits of aluminium windows?

One of their best features is their lightweight and slimline design. The strength of the aluminium allows for a larger surface area of glass, meaning that more light can flood into your home while providing homeowners with stunning views of their surroundings. Aluminium windows are also easy to maintain and have the potential to last decades! They are also 100% recyclable, though at Britannia, we’re happy to collect and recycle your old windows regardless of the material.

Do aluminium windows rust?

Requiring minimal maintenance, aluminium windows are highly durable and rust-resistant. Although pure aluminium does naturally corrode, our aluminium window frames have been treated so that they will stay strong, elegant and energy-efficient for decades.

Our suppliers conform to strictly controlled and independently monitored Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, to ensure that everything is done correctly and according to best practise.
