Lantern Roof Conservatories
Lantern roof conservatories are designed using two tiers, creating a ‘wedding cake’ effect. The top tier is made from glass, resulting in a highly appealing aesthetic and filling your room with natural light. Lantern roof conservatories are a statement, complementing any home by adding a splash of grandeur and elegance.
The classic design of our lantern roof conservatories makes them the perfect fit for period properties, as they were a symbol of luxury during both the Victorian and Edwardian era. However, our lantern roof conservatories can be manufactured in a variety of different designs, so you can allow your creativity to flow!
Adding a lantern roof conservatory will flood your living space with light, bringing the best bits of the outside in. Even when the skies are grey, a lantern roof conservatory will stay bright, resulting in a living room that feels welcoming all year round.
All our conservatories are made to an impeccable standard. Whether you’re looking to add a lantern roof conservatory roof as an extension onto an already existing conservatory, or building an entirely new one from scratch, then get in contact with one of our expert advisors today or visit our local showroom in Weston-Super-Mare.
10-year manufacturer’s guarantee.
Classic windows tailor made to your exact specifications.
A Lantern Roof conservatory uses fewer bars to let in even more light. With an extended eaves beam, rather than a flat roof, the internal pelmet and external cornice create a stunning orangery roof style.
A decorative cornice is used outside to hide the guttering and create beautiful sight lines.
The internal insulated pelmet will enable you to enjoy better lighting and thermal performance. You can even opt for integrated spotlights and speakers to enhance your experience.

What is a lantern conservatory?
A fantastic alternative to a traditional conservatory, a lantern roof conservatory is a perfect way to flood your home with light without having to commit to a fully glass-panelled conservatory. Known for its ‘wedding-cake’ effect roof, lantern roof conservatories are designed using a two-tier system that has glass panes in the middle that are pitched to emulate a roof shape. Highly adaptable, they can be installed in an already-existing room in your home (as long as it has a flat roof), or you can use them as an extension to add extra space to your property. Complementing any home, our lantern style conservatories add a touch of style and class.
Do roof lanterns lose heat?
In comparison to a fully insulated tiled roof, a roof lantern conservatory may lose slightly more heat. However, at Perfecta, we ensure our double glazing is as energy efficient as possible by using high-quality materials. If you’re looking to take extra steps to reduce heat loss in your lantern roof conservatory, then there are additional options available to you, like triple glazing which is ideal for cold climates. All our lantern roofs have internal insulated pelmets which make sure heat loss is kept to a minimum while maximising the amount of light in the interior space.
Do roof lanterns let in more light?
Yes! Roof lanterns are a fantastic way of maximising on the amount of light let into a room. Even when the weather is cloudy and grey, you won’t feel the urge to switch on the lights until the sun goes down! Roof lanterns allow three times more light in than a conventional window, depending on the size you choose. Even during those hot summer days, our roof lanterns can be made from a range of glass options that filter out UV to protect you and your furnishings. They can also be slightly tinted to reduce glare, so that you can relax and unwind in the space all year round.
How do you clean a roof lantern?
Because of the location of the lantern it is best to use a long-handled window cleaning product, all you need to do is apply warm soapy water that should get rid of any debris or dirt stuck to the glass. It’s actually a good idea to clean your windows when it isn’t sunny outside, as this could cause the glass to dry quickly and form streaks.
If you don’t like the idea of manually cleaning your roof lantern, we offer self-cleaning glass, which saves you time and energy. Why not contact us and see whether a roof lantern with self-cleaning glass would work in your home?
