What is an Edwardian conservatory?

Also called a Georgian conservatory, the Edwardian conservatory is a classic and traditional design that balances both style and practicality. It features a flat front and a square or rectangular shape with a high pitched roof, giving you a vaulted ceiling and allowing the sun to shine through in different angles. Its rectangular shape means you can get the largest amount of square footage possible, and means you can use it for a variety of purposes, from dining room to playroom! If you want to find out more about our Edwardian conservatories then visit your nearest showroom and see one for yourself!

What is the difference between a Victorian and an Edwardian conservatory?

Victorian and Edwardian conservatories are similar in many ways. They both have pitched roofs and ornate detailing, and look good either on period properties or as a statement piece on more modern homes. The main difference between the two is that the Victorian conservatory has a bay front; either three- or five-sided, giving it a rounded effect. An Edwardian conservatory on the other hand is a standard rectangular shape. Both have their advantages – you may prefer the curved look of the Victorian style, or you might want to take advantage of the increased square footage of the Edwardian.

Can I have decorative glass in my Edwardian conservatory?

Absolutely! At Perfecta, we offer many different types of decorative glass, from coloured, leaded, or textured glass. Have a look at our brochure to get some more inspiration of what colours or styles you’d like; maybe a classic grid, or something more ornate? Textured glass can let you have more privacy in your conservatory without stopping the light getting in, a good option if your conservatory is overlooked by multiple properties. From classic leading to individual design pieces, contact us today to find out more about the decorative glass we offer.

Are Edwardian conservatories practical?

Edwardian conservatories are one of the most practical styles because their square or rectangular shape means you have the maximum amount of square footage to take advantage of. Whereas with a Victorian conservatory you would have to worry about getting furniture that fits within the bay section, Edwardian conservatories’ traditional shape makes them easier to furnish. The pitched roof is also a practical choice for a conservatory as debris and fallen leaves slide off easily rather than accumulating on the roof. There are multiple ways we can make your conservatory more practical – why not contact us today to find out what we can do for you?
