How do you open a sliding patio door?

Our patio doors are very easy to use, with a smooth sliding function you can open them as far as you want. To open your patio door, all you need to do is turn the door handle to a certain angle and then slide it along the roller!

Customer satisfaction is a top priority here at Perfecta. We make sure that after our expert engineers install your new doors, they don’t leave until they’ve shown you how to use them correctly and that you’re completely happy.

How wide is a two panel sliding glass door?

It depends on how wide your opening needs to be! Ideal for smaller properties with limited space, sliding doors don’t open inwards or outwards so don’t take up any additional room. This does mean, however, that only one half of the door can open at once.

The standard size for a patio door is around 1.5m (5ft), which would create an opening into your outside space that would be 75cm (2.5ft). At Britannia, we custom build our doors to your specific requirements so can manufacturer them to whichever dimensions you need. Contact us today for a free, no obligation quote.

What is a lift and slide patio door?

Traditional sliding doors slide open and closed along a sliding rack, as the name suggests. On the other hand, lift and slide patio doors use a different opening mechanism. When you fully close a lift and slide patio door, it comes off the rack completely. This secures it in the closed position and protects you from draughts. To open a lift and slide patio door, simply turn the handle and lift the door slightly to place it back on the rack. Then, you can smoothly slide the door open and let the fresh air and natural light flood into the room. Another great feature if you have kids, is that you can lower the door off the rack at any point and lock it for extra safety

Are patio doors energy efficient?

It depends on the quality of the material used. If you’re looking to increase your homes thermal efficiency, opt for either double or triple glazing with a high-quality PVCu, timber or aluminium frame and a high-tech locking system. If you do, your patio doors will be highly insulative and will help cut the costs of your household bills.

At Perfecta, we ensure our products are as highly energy efficient as possible by using quality materials. Look out for A-rated glass with a low U-value: the lower the U-value, the less heat escapes, leaving your home nice and cosy!

Are sliding patio doors easy to break into?

We can see why you might think patio doors are easier to break into than other doors, as they’re mostly made of glass. This is not the case, however, especially if you install double or triple glazing which is particularly hard to break and highly secure. At Britannia, we fit toughened glass as standard on all our doors and windows. We also use high-tech multi-locking systems on all our exterior doors so that you feel relaxed in your home knowing your family is safe.

All our products are approved by the UK Police-led Secured By Design initiative, which helps reduce burglaries by increasing security measures in the home. If you want to find out more, get in contact today!

How much does a patio door cost?

The cost of your patio doors depends on a number of variables, including the material, size and type of glass you would like to use. As a general rule, PVCu is our more affordable option and the larger the door, the more expensive the price. Double glazing is also cheaper than triple glazing, so it’s totally up to you and your budget. Why not contact one of our expert advisors today for a free, no obligation quote.

Through constant innovation the quality, durability and security of our products is genuinely second to none. As a local company we are proud to offer British Standards BS7412/PAS24 for enhanced security.

We refuse to compromise on quality

Our windows are made from British Made, high quality MarinespecTM components, with up to 25 years anti corrosion. They are built specifically for the more exposed areas of corrosion, such as coastal environments to give you worry free performance beyond your guarantee.  We believe spending more on components is worth every penny, and sets us apart from our competitors.

State of the art fabrication for best quality

We have invested millions of pounds into one of the most state of the art manufacturing facilities in the UK.  This enables us to provide you with consistently high quality products at exceptionally good prices. Our loyal factory workers are well trained and take pride in their work, they really care about quality.  Our machines are maintained according to a rigorous servicing regime to keep them in top condition.

Superior energy efficiency

Our ‘A’ rated energy efficient and triple glazed windows are tested by the BFRC, which will save you money on your heating bills. By law your windows and doors have to meet strict thermal performance regulations but you can be rest assured that our products exceed current requirements.

Energy saving is incredibly important and so is keeping your fuel bills down. We are continuously looking for ways to make our homes energy efficient and one way is to choose new PVCu windows and doors. Not only will they help to keep your home warmer, they will reduce your energy loss.

Don’t just take our word for it!

Our suppliers conform to strictly controlled and independently monitored Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, to ensure that everything is done correctly and according to best practise.

Our windows are tested independently by British Standards for security, weather tightness and strength performance. This means that periodically, we have to send them to independent test houses, in order to be tested to destruction.

These are just some of the many standards the products in our vast range conform to. Needless to say we take the quality of our products very seriously indeed.
