Lean-to Conservatories

  • Do you have height restrictions in your home? Perhaps you live in a bungalow or a characterful cottage in the countryside? Well, our high quality and stylish lean-to conservatories are the perfect solution if you’re looking to create some additional living space for you and your family.

Our lean-to conservatories have a pitched roof which can vary in size in order to fit your specific requirements: a shallow pitch works well with bungalows, whereas a steep pitch is ideal for a terraced house.

Our lean-to conservatories are both practical and elegant, creating a light, spacious and multifunctional room that will benefit the whole family. Whether that’s unwinding with a good book or entertaining guests, our lean-to conservatories are a great addition to any home.

With their less-is-more approach, our lean-to conservatories are the ideal solution for you if you’re looking to invest in some home improvements. If you would like to make your conservatory dreams a reality, get in contact with one of our advisors today! They would love to hear from you and will discuss a free, no obligation quote.

  • The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory, with clean lines that give it a contemporary look that make them a popular conservatory for modern houses. The simple shape gives you the maximum space in a highly economical style.

Whether your lean-to conservatory is traditional or contemporary, the style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the eaves, like a bungalow, or have an area that’s too awkward to accommodate a conservatory. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean to conservatories can vary, so a shallow pitch can fit under a low bungalow roof and a steeper one would be ideal for a terraced house.

Do you need foundations for a lean to conservatory?

Simply, yes. Even though a lean-to conservatory uses one of your home’s existing walls, we need to ensure it’s sturdy, stable and durable. The depth of the foundations will vary depending on the type of soil you are planning to install your conservatory on. To ensure we custom-build the right conservatory for you, we will send a surveyor round to test the soil so that we select the appropriate groundwork and footings. This means we will make sure your new conservatory has a study base, so that it lasts for years to come.

What is a lean-to conservatory?

In comparison to all our other conservatory styles, our lean-to conservatory is definitely the simplest. Commonly referred to as sunrooms, our lean-to design is constructed from three glass walls protruding from one of the main walls in your property, and are often smaller than your traditional conservatory. You can opt for either a glass or tiled roof, depending on your budget and personal preference. A glass roof will maximise on light but a tiled roof will be more energy efficient. If you don’t have space for a full conservatory, then a lean-to is a better alternative.

What's the difference between a lean-to and a conservatory?

The main differences between the two are their size. A lean-to conservatory is normally a lot smaller than a standard conservatory, which often has more space for ornate details and pitched roofs, similar to our Victorian and Edwardian designs. A lean-to is more likely to have a gentle sloping roof and is more appropriate for smaller properties that may have height constraints. However, both a lean-to and a standard conservatory use large amounts of glass to increase light and space in your home. If you would like to discover what style is better for you and your home, get in contact with one of our advisers today or go see for yourself at our local showroom.

Why choose a lean-to conservatory?

If you want an extension but don’t have much room, then a lean-to conservatory is the ideal solution. Highly adaptable, a lean-to conservatory only needs to protrude a small amount from the main building, while still bringing in natural light and warmth into your home. Perfect for bungalows, terraced houses or small cottages, a lean-to conservatory will add clean lines and a modern finish. Their pitched roof also capitalises on the space provided, meaning the extension doesn’t have to take up too much garden space for it to feel roomy.
